Michelle Elena

In the last weeks of pregnancy I was already very uncomfortable, and also the baby would not stop jumping, dancing and stretching in there, which hurt a lot. So I was trying everything to get it out as soon as possible, but there was no way. We went to see the castle Seebenstein, at least half an hour up in the mountains, but nothing.
A friend of ours who is a midwife, told me of an infusion and a bath that could be prepared with certain herbs to speed up the birth. So that's what I started, the day I turned 40 weeks, on 17th of August. I would have loved it if she would have been born that day, because it is the birthday of my grandmother who died on August 1st. Well, on Friday the 19th, in the morning, I threw the mucus plug, and the hours I started with very mild contractions. But as I had that before and afterwards they stopped again, didn´t think much of it. I still cooked for the missionaries, who came at noon, and the contractions were already a little stronger, but still did not think it was anything. At night from 8 or something it was getting a bit stronger, and at 10 I said that might be good that my mom came to sleep just in case, to be with Lorena and Nerea.
I called her and said that there was no hurry, but the best thing was probably to come. 15 minutes later she came with my sister, who was with her at that moment, to see if she could do something. At that time already I had stronger contractions but nothing regular. My mother said, to go anyway to see if there was something going on, and if not we could always go home again. So at 11:30 my sister brought us to the hospital and went home (she has about a 15 minutes drive). The midwife was a bit skeptical when I told her I wanted to see if it was already, because the contractions were´nt regular, but as I said it was the third, she was okay. When she explored me I was nearly 5 cm and she said, that the baby was pushing really hard.
Contractions at the time, were now quite strong. And after a little while I had desire to push already and almost did not get to the delivery room (which was next door) and 3 pushes and the baby was out. That was at 0:09, 40 minutes after we entered the door!
It was easier than with Nerea. I immediately got the baby on the belly and they didn´t cut the umbilical cord until some time later.
When Jose called my mom and my sister to tell them that Michelle was already here, they couldn´t believe it! My sister only just came home!
The truth is that I can say that for me, giving birth is a unique and wonderful experience! I find it amazing every time I look at Michelle, that this being was inside me, that it developed from a tiny seed, and then becomes a little person!
You can only say that God is great that we as women can share with the creation of people. And it's amazing the love that you can have for these creatures!

We put her Michelle by name and for a middle name Elena, in honor of my grandmother Helene, who died 20 days before meeting her great granddaughter in life (probably they met in heaven!) And she was / is a wonderful and beautiful person, a picture-perfect Grandma!

Embarazo / Pregnancy

Well, it has been a long road so far, feeling as bad as I always feel in the pregnancies. The first quarter almost always between the bed, sofa and toilet for you know what. The only thing is that I noticed in this pregnancy the baby the first time 12-13 weeks! The doctor didn't believe me but it's true. And then I started to feel better. I even went to a dance in church and I felt so well that I couldn't believe it. The food is the only thing that frustrated me a bit. I could not eat almost anything to enjoy, and I ate just to avoid being sick. I lost 4 kilos in the first 3 months and after that I gain any weight neither. More and more people told me that there are pills that could be taken to reduce stomach acid (which prevented me from eating anything) and finally went to the family doctor and he put me on simple stomach protector! I was amazed that it would remove the problem, and I was pretty skeptical. But I started taking it and still doesn't let me eat everything, but it expanded my diet so much! I even ate two bowls of strawberry tiramisu yesterday (which is mascarpone, cream, strawberries and cake - all things that I could not eat before )!!!!!!!!!! Yipiiiiiii!
I feel very blessed with the science today and doctors who care for you and seek a solution!
Well, needless to say that we expect our third princess with great anxiety and, here I send you a video of 3D ultrasound from about a month ago.

Bebe / Baby!

Well, it seems that we finally made it! After a lot of trying and a few losses, we are going to have another member in the family! This one is a summer-baby too, it will be born in the middle of August and we feel like it's going to be a boy. The funny thing is, that with the girls I could only think of names for girls y we couldn't decide on a boy's name. And now it's just the opposite, the only name I can think of is boy's names. I don't know if that makes sense, so we'll see what it will be.
But we are excited! Lorena and Nerea are already saying, that they're going to help with the changing and the bathing and teaching him to walk, etc! They're so cute! And then they come and put some music for the baby and give kisses on the tummy, so it will grow and be strong enough to come out!

Cumple Nerea / Nerea's birthday

I know we haven't been very good lately in updating this blog, but I want to start again. Nerea turned 3 the other day and wanted a Little Einsteins party (which is pretty hard over here I found out, because in the stores they don't have a lot of things). But we crafted up a few things and in the end it turned out pretty good I think. A lot of friends came and in the end the floor was filled with presents of new toys and kids.
Thank you Nerea for being in our family and for being you, always making laugh, although you're mad!

One of the girls in our ward has 2 ponies and her stable is in the middle of the forest around Viena, and so she invited us to ride with her for an afternoon. The wheather was a bit funny, but it was ok and the kids had a good time anyway. They had fun taking turns riding on the ponies and running around. Jose had a good time too, until I told him that there were ticks that bit people (and not just animals) and that we should put on some protection (normally you would get vaccinated, but we didn't do it yet). Then he didn't like it that much anymore! :) But oh well, it doesn't happen that often.

Salida 1 de mayo / Outing 1st of May

On the first of May we decided to go out and while it was raining at home, we escaped to spend the day on the Danube-riverside which was beautiful. Although Miguel and Rachel took us a bit the wrong way, in the end we found a beautiful little town to go for a walk. It was definitely worth the while.

Viaje a Espana / Trip to Spain

Our Papi (Jose's dad) got really bad in January and had to go in the hospital and he's there since then suffering from pancreatitis. In the beginning they didn't really know what it was, and they kept finding other things. So, just before the Easter-week the doctors said they wanted to operate on him but didn't know what the result would be. So then we decided to go see him and spend time there in case something goes wrong. Jose was almost the whole week in the hospital and did some contacts for his work too, so we didn't see him very much but we could enjoy with friends and family since we were there already. We love you aloot and miss you!!

Also we went to a formal dance, which they have a lot in January and February. We went to the one mi nieces' school organized. We had a good time, towards the end you could tell that we were deep in the countryside, because they were playing more and more of the yodelli-songs, if you know what I mean. :)) But it was an evening without kids, which is good once in a while too.

Carnaval

I just realized that I didn't put anything for carneval, so here are at least a few of the pictures. We had a party in the ward and they chose their costumes on their own.

Nerea

Today in getting something off the shelf above the couch, some fell down and Nerea was sitting right underneath. So all of the sudden she was crying and blood was flowing. When we finally got it controlled, it was only a little hole, but we were scared anyway. So now she has this big plaster across her forehead, like she had everything open. I think this won't be the last time Nerea gets hurt (although this wasn't her fault, just that living in this little space, everything is on top).

Nuestros talentos de musica / Our music talents

A nuestras chicas les encanta cantar. Siempre estan cantando algo. Y Nerea queria seguirla tambien, claro. Asi que aqui esta.

Our girls love to sing, they're always singing something. Sometimes they put themselve on top of a chair and sing really loud or direct the music that is playing. This Sunday Lorena was asked to sing a song in Primary and I recorded it because she did a great job. She got a big confused with the words but she was embarrassed or anything to sing in front of people (although we don't really have a big primary either). Nerea had to follow too of course. So here it is.

Peinados / Hairdos

Me encanta!

Lately I found some blogs to do really cool hairdos for my girls and I'm every night looking for new ones to do the next day! This is great! So here you have some pics, some better than others, but I'm learning!

La vida diaria / daily life

Bueno, pues poco a poco estamos acostumbrandonos y haciendo nuevos amigos o recuperamos antiguas amistades.
GRACIAS!

Once again it's time to let you catch up with our lives.
I did not think that it would cost us/me so much to get used to life in Austria. We miss our family and friends a lot, the social life we had in Spain. They were very happy 10 years of our lives. And I know our "mission" in Spain is not yet over, so you can make the idea that we come back, if you like it or not! :))
Well, we are slowly getting used to life here and are making new friends or recovering old ones. The truth is that everyone took alot of trouble for us to stay and help us as they can! Thanks everyone!
As you know Jose Carlos is working since January and is doing very well. They are happy with him and making a lot of friends. The owner of the company even invited us to go with her to a concert in April.
Lorena goes to Kindergarden and loves it, and she seems all grown-up. She still misses her cousins and friends alot doesn't understand much that she has to wait until summer to go to see them. We're going to Spain in July for the wedding of our niece and we are anxious to see everyone again! Nerea is also growing very fast and talks a lot now. She's a Piñol totally, she has that shouting voice! :)) It is very difficult when you scold her and she looks at you with those big brown eyes and it's hard to stay serious.
We are delighted as well with our "Oma and Opa" (grandparents), my parents, who support us soo much. THANKS!

Nuestros primeros meses en Austria / Our first months in Austria

Well, sorry if I didn´t put anything in here yet. Most of you are on Facebook as well, so I hope you could follow us along anyway. I didn´t stop or relax for the first 6 weeks, so that´s why. Just now I´m catching up with things.
I don´t know how many CV´s we sent, especially me. Because it was me at first who was supposed to get a full-time job for the beginning since Jose´s german is not so good yet.
The first month was very hard, because we didn´t hear anything, nothing turned out, we were without insurance, we were living off my parents basically and didn´t want to bother, etc.
We were about to give up, but all the family said, that we had to wait at least til Christmas, so we decided we would do that. And then in November finally we got some calls at least for interviews, which was at least something. And we sold our town-apartment to one of our best friends, so we had one debt less. Jose went to Spain for a week to finalize that and brought all our stuff in a van to Austria, with 2 friends who drove with him to accompany him and to drive back the van. A whole adventure on its own! Thanks Hector and Sami for that loooong trip with all that that included!!
Now the biggest news we had this week, on the 1st of December: Jose and I dropped our CV´s at a company who were looking for someone with Spanish mother language! (which we heard from a new friend Gina, THANKS GINA!) They told us that the next week they would call us to let us know.... the next DAY they phoned Jose and told him to come in for an interviews a few days later, which was the 1st of December! Well, they were thrilled with him! They need somebody to sell over the phone to Spain, Latin America, England, Ireland, which he is perfect for! And he´s gonna start on January 4th!!!

Grandes cambios / Big changes

Bueno, bueno, bueno.

Well, well, well. I thought that the next thing to put in here would be something about Lorena and school, but life is full of surprises. In one week our lives have changed completely. Like alot of you know, things have not been working out very well, economically, and that was the reason of our last trip to the US and Austria. Well, last week we were praying and fasting about what we should do, if to try to find somebody or put a restaurant ourselves in the unit we have or if we should leave Spain. At the end of the fast, José said, why don´t we go to Austria and try to find a job there! We felt good about that decision and started to find out stuff. I wrote a CV to the company I worked for 10 years ago and the next day I get the answer back that they have something free and when can I come for an interview!! AAHHH!

So Friday we said goodbye to a lot of people and I stayed up until 3 o´clock in the morning to pack and at 7:30 left with the car in direction Austria!!

So, we´re here and registered ourselves, signed up for the help for the family you can get here (for every child you have) and hopefully they give us work soon! Somebody! I didn´t get the job I had the meeting with on Monday but we hope and pray something will come up soon!!

This summer we enjoyed with my niece Vanessa and her friend Kati who came from Austria for 2 weeks. We went a lot of places and got tanned (except Vanessa who just got red) :))

Well, since I left my blog a bit abandoned, now I have to put you all the news of the last months and Lorenas birthday is definitely one of them. It was already a month and a half ago, but still is important. We had two parts, my sister came a week earlier and we opened alot of presents there, but the party we did with a few friends of hers from here in another part. It was also better wheather, so they even were able to play in the water a bit.

Well, this is a selection of the beautiful pastures, and little lakes of Austria, at least from the area we are at now. It's not as nice as when you walk through all this, but you can at least have a taste of it. I enjoy it very much, I hope you can too!

Austria

Jose Carlos was offered a job to sell alarmsystems in America, already a year ago, but it didn't work then with the papers, but this year it worked. He is in Grand Forks, North Dakota and he's going to be there for 3 to 6 months, depending on how the job goes. Supposedly it is a good job, normally for students, for summer and good money is earned. We're praying that it is going good for Jose Carlos too and his selling tongue works as good in America as it is in Spain. Well, I decided to stay, because we didn't know how things would work out and how the job would work. So, I took the opportunity to come to Austria for 3 months and be with my family, as we are going through a difficult time too. My father had a stroke 5 weeks ago and the recovery from that is slow. But it is going upward. So I'm happy to be able to support my parents and sisters in as much I can. But we do miss Jose Carlos, Daddy, very much. He is only gone for a week, but it already seems longer. We love you Daddy!!
